This week I had the chance to spend some time with Bertha, a sweet dog from the Calhoun County Animal Shelter, and it turned out to be one of the best parts of my day.
We strolled along the Linear Path here in Battle Creek, enjoying the fresh air, sunshine, and simple joy of being outside together.
Bertha loved every moment, her tail wagged nonstop, and I walked away feeling lighter, happier, and grateful for the experience.
What struck me most is how easy it is to make a difference. The shelter is always looking for volunteers to come walk their dogs.
It doesn’t take much, just a bit of your time and willingness to share some love.
If you live in an apartment where pets aren’t allowed, this is a perfect way to get some “puppy therapy” in your life.
You’ll enjoy the companionship, exercise, and stress relief, while giving a shelter dog a chance to stretch their legs, practice social skills, and feel cared for.
Bertha is still looking for her forever home, and she’s available for adoption right now at the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.
Maybe your next walk could be with her. |
